The mountains hide magic older than memory, and weird and wild things lurk in the shadows, better left forgotten.
Veronica Carter, a bitter detective with the ability to talk to ghosts, seeks out cases that cross into the paranormal. While trying to solve a mysterious murder, she encounters Jennifer Simmons, a disgraced psychologist who has returned to her childhood home to find the monster who killed her father. The violent creature has plans of its own.
As their new friendship grows, both women must face the truth of who they are and what they've done. You can't outrun your past; sometimes, those things that go bump in the night come back to kill you.
