昭和23年12月23日零時1分30秒、A級戦犯7人の死刑執行が開始された。その日は皇太子明仁の15回目の誕生日。なぜ、この日に処刑が行われたのか？ 著者は、ある子爵夫人の日記に書かれた「ジミーの誕生日の件、心配です」という謎めく一文を手がかりに、処刑日選定の謎に迫っていく。アメリカが刻印した暗号の意味、浮かび上がる対日占領政策の大きな構図。著者自身が『昭和16年夏の敗戦』（第8巻収録）の完結編と位置づける作品。©2018 Naoki Inose (P)2026 小学館
