While this is my first audible book experience, I shall return! That said, this multifaceted piece of writing was beautifully crafted. Having grown up in the Midwest, in a Jewish family, the first portion of the book was familiar and, in fact, sad, for me, personally. I suppose the writer plucked a few strings...Still, I wondered where this plot was going to go. When the main character /narrator landed in Boston,to attend college, the plot gained speed. I was riveted to this Audible --laughing and weeping along with the narrator. As I finished listening to this reading, I thought about what a wonderful film--including Detroit"s revival in mind--this would be. Susan Merson is a formidable writer of personal history, as well as of social history. Thank you!! fg
