The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won’t make a search engine. And the next Mark Zuckerberg won't create a social network. If you are copying these guys, you aren't learning from them. It's easier to copy a model than to make something new: doing what we already know how to do takes the world from 1 to n, adding more of something familiar. But every time we create something new, we go from 0 to 1.

Clearly structured and full of useful insights about start-ups. Thiel has strong contrarian ideas and opinions backed by philosophy. Sharp advice from someone who really knows what he’s talking about, as a former Paypal co-founder/CEO, Palantir co-founder and Founders Fund VC.

The Colour of Magic, the first novel in Terry Pratchett's wildly imaginative Discworld series, takes the listener on a remarkable journey. The magical planet of Discworld is supported by four massive elephants who stand on the back of the Great A'Tuin, a giant turtle swimming slowly through the mysterious interstellar gulf. An eccentric expedition sets out to explore the planet, encountering dragons who only exist if you believe in them, and, of course, "The Edge" of the planet.

The story is hilarious, lots of sureal humour and adventure. The audio is quite poor though...the narrator does quite a good job but there’s echo sometimes, and inequal low/high sounds. Pratchett’s and Planer’s work is worth a remastering and audio adjustment.

Neal Stephenson is a blazing new force on the sci-fi scene. With the groundbreaking cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, he has "vaulted onto the literary stage." It weaves virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility - in short, it is the gigathriller of the information age.

The plot is thrilling, mixing computer science / cyber punk / history with subtlety. Snowcrash’s characters are well depicted and profound. The narrator’s voice is deep, engaging and powerful. 5 stars audiobook!
