They Call It English is a heartfelt and powerful true story told through the innocent and curious eyes of a young child. When a Jewish family is forced to leave the USSR in search of freedom, their journey begins with uncertainty, fear, and sacrifice, but also hope.
From tense encounters with soldiers to moments of wonder in Italy, and finally to a humble new life in America, this story captures the emotional reality of immigration like few others. Through small yet vivid memories losing treasured belongings, discovering new cultures, and struggling to communicate. The narrative reveals what it truly means to start over.
At its core, this is a story about resilience, identity, and the transformative power of language. Its about finding your place in an unfamiliar world, learning to belong, and discovering that even the hardest journeys can lead to something beautiful.
