I was removed from my family at three years old. At thirteen, I became a mother. By seventeen, homelessness, violence and loss had already shaped much of my life.
Years later, addiction became my escape. My son was removed from my care, and once again I found myself living through the pain of a family being torn apart.
I refused to let that be the end of our story.
What followed was a seven-year fight through sobriety, intense therapy, parenting courses, social services, contact and courtrooms. Again and again, I was knocked down. Again and again, I got back up.
The Cycle Ends With Me is my true story of surviving childhood trauma, the care system, teenage motherhood, abusive relationships, addiction and the devastating loss of my children— but it is also a story of recovery, motherhood, determination and breaking the cycle.
I cannot change where my story began.
But I could change where it ended.and I did .
