Bestselling gay author Dennis Cleveland returns to his hometown in New Mexico when his grandmother passes away. A break-in at his grandmother's house starts Dennis on a search for an ancient artifact that may tie into his parents' deaths when he was a child. As he searches for answers, Dennis befriends a local drag queen and the director of a Native American museum. He also reconnects with his teenage crush who is now a handsome (and newly single) policeman. But can any of them be trusted?
Secrets, revelations, and deceptions pile up in a deadly plot that seems to be straight out of a mystery novel.
Totah is based on an award-winning screenplay that was described by reviewers as "truly a multilayer crime thriller... very well developed...one of the best specs out there," with "an added layer of culture and mystery to it."
***Silver Award for Best Feature Script, Mindfield Film Festival Albuquerque (2020).
**Written comments about the Totah screenplay from reviewers at LGBT Los Angeles Film Festival (2020).
