A Sunday Times Memoir of the Year. Discover the global phenomenon that tells an unforgettable story of love, loss, courage, and healing.

It was one of the images of the twentieth century: two boys, walking behind the coffin of their mother, Princess Diana. Billions wondered what the princes must be feeling - and how their lives would play out from that point on.

For Harry, this is that story at last.

Before then, Prince Harry was known as the happy-go-lucky Spare to the more serious Heir. But grief changed everything.

At twenty-one, he joined the Army but was soon more lost than ever, suffering from post-traumatic stress and crippling panic attacks. Above all, he couldn't find true love.

Then he met Meghan. The world was swept away by the couple's romance and wedding. But in the face of sustained press intrusion, Harry saw no other way to protect his wife and children than to flee his mother country. Over the centuries, leaving the Royal Family was an act few had dared. The last to try had been his mother. . .

Written with raw, unflinching honesty, Spare is full of insight, revelation and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.

I loved listening to this book. I knew next to nothing about Prince Harry and really enjoyed his poetic, honest and often funny way of recounting his life.
The only thing I struggled with at times was his speaking voice was sometimes a little quiet and hard to hear when listening in the car.

Fascinating and down to earth

Such a moving human story. Harry and Meghan are soul mates destined to experiencing human misery.

Undeniable truth.

I absolutely loved this book, I loved everything about it: the way it was written, the way it was read, the touches of humour...I listened to a human being expressing feelings, pouring his heart out with honesty, sensibility and trust. A soul who wants to be heard and understood. Life is difficult for everyone, I can't even imagine living in fear, being bullied, criticized for everything, and being hunt down while all you want to do is live. Day, after day, after day... That is a very heavy cross to carry for a human being, any human being, however poor, rich, known or unknown. There are many, many shades of suffering in this world, and this book is one of them.

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful
