Twenty-three years married. Thirty-five-plus years making theatre. And somehow, we're still talking to each other.
It's our anniversary weekend, so we've escaped the kids, found a quiet spot in the Adelaide Hills (in the rain, naturally), and decided to look back at some of the extraordinary, ridiculous and occasionally terrifying creative adventures we've shared.
From staging Dangerous Liaisons in a nightclub to rescuing a youth theatre production from organisational chaos, making intimate theatre for unconventional audiences, and pushing the boundaries of digital performance — we've certainly put ourselves, our marriage and our bank accounts through their paces.
We talk about creative chemistry, professional jealousy, burnout, working with your spouse, and why some of our greatest artistic achievements have also been our most personally challenging.
Plus, the rather unconventional secret behind Mik's latest successful acting audition. (Thanks, Nikki. 🍒)
Twenty-three years, countless productions, a few spectacular disasters — and apparently, we're still not finished.
Pull up a chair. It's anniversary time in The Green Room.
