Thessaly Grenn graduated first in the class Kett was expelled from. He arrives in Prossick with an Anomaly Division warrant and four years of carefully maintained contempt. A real gentleman, Kett reads the warrant and offers him a spare room.
Every test Thessaly runs comes back wrong. A standard healing salve explodes into the best rust-proofing he's ever seen. Kett's Discovery Log ticks past 350 while Thessaly watches. His own has read zero for his entire career, and he's stopped looking at it.
Down in the Sump, the dungeon has developed a crush. Creatures leave rare reagents in Kett's path like a cat leaving mice on the doorstep. Nibs does not appreciate the competition. The pull runs deeper than any party has gone in thirty years, toward the floor that took Old Vargan's arm. The Guild sealed it for a reason, but Vargan never said what that reason was.
