What happens when your needs become the one thing that can always be postponed?
“I don’t have time for myself” can sound like a simple reality of a full life. But beneath the responsibilities, deadlines, relationships, financial decisions, and people who need you, there may be another question worth exploring: When did making room for yourself become optional?
Cherie reflects on her own pattern of recovering just enough to return to the same way of living, and the distinction she eventually discovered between recovery and restoration. From there, she explores the less visible costs of continually coming last—exhaustion, resentment, disconnection, and losing touch with your own desires.
Rather than suggesting another time-management strategy or encouraging impulsive spending in the name of self-care, Cherie invites a more honest look at time, energy, money, support, and the choices available to you now. Sometimes reclaiming yourself may begin with asking for help, lowering a standard, sharing a responsibility, creating a boundary, or simply recognizing that your needs belong in the conversation too.
Complete this sentence for yourself: The space I am ready to reclaim is…
