This is the third Low book that I've read. It is my least favorite do far. It took me three false starts to plow through the beginning chapters. Lots of information on Lily. Lots of inner thoughts from both Lily and Greta. Repetitive and boring.
The "cute meet" with Reed kept me from skipping the book all together. Very "True Lies" with the tango angle. I didn't like the fact that he was filthy rich. That took the feel of desperation, dependency, "us against the world" and the gritty edge off of the story for me. That's why I gave it a 3.
Overall. Too much whining and not enough action. I agree that Lily became too soft in this story, to the point that she was like a lamb being led through the ending of this story. I get it she was programmed and broken but geez! Was there no fire at all left in her?
The addition of Talia was a good introduction to the GEM operative T. The story really picked up once she, Greta's niece Talia, joined the story. I'm hoping her and Alex's story has a bit more fire and excitement.
