Episode 1 - Nehemiah's Motivation to Act and What We Can Learn From His Faithfulness. (Series 1 of 3)

  • Résumé

  • In this episode we discuss Nehemiah and his decision to return to Jerusalem and make space for God's temple in the midst of opposition and how that relates to modern day choices to build God's Kingdom in opposition to the culture of your own people, nation, friends, or enemies. We seek to answer what role modern believers in Christ have while living in a nation that does not, or is no longer believing in the God of the Bible, Jesus, or His standards for their communities, laws, or choices. When it seems like the majority of people are rejecting obedience to God or no longer understanding their reason or purpose for obeying God.  What is expected from followers of Jesus when the battle on earth seems like its being lost? Do we wait for the sure victory in the end, or do we have a hand in establishing the Kingdom of Heaven now?

We not only cover the context of the Book of Nehemiah, but we talk about how the book challenged the original culture it was distributed in. Through understanding the lessons of that original culture and readers we can learn Gods timeless message and apply practical steps of obedience directly to our modern day problems.
