    • Episode 45 - How to make career envy work in your favour
      May 8 2024

On this week's episode of Career Espresso, I'll explore the concept of career envy and how it can hold you back from making progress in your own career.

If career envy has got you firmly stuck in a rut, the first thing to know is that you don't have to stay there. Owning the envy is the initial push and then knowing you don't have to be a prisoner, nor are you trapped in your current career. You may not actually want the job, of the person you've really got this envy, that chief target, but you may want a need or even deserve a new job yourself. Take that career envy energy and make it work for you.

We'll cover the definition of envy and I'll be providing prompts to help you recognise your envy triggers and deal with the emotions that they stir up. This includes a 3 step process to follow next time you are struggling with career envy.

Don't forget to take a look at this week's podsheet to support and encourage further learning and exploration of the podcast topic.

Whilst these are all excellent reasons to start working with a coach, it's also important to consider how you can adopt some of the mindset management techniques that a coach will use to help you get focused when you need it most.

    • Episode 43 - Why you're feeling stuck in your career (and what to do about it)
      Apr 24 2024

Feeling stuck at work is a very common experience and a main reason that clients reach out for help to a career coach, but it's important to figure out what to do next.

Listen to this week's episode where I'll be covering seven ideas to help you get unstuck:

      1) The activity removes doubt principle

      2) Asking 'what' instead of 'why'

      3) Avoiding excuses that keep you stuck

      4) Evaluating your career skills and recognising their value

      5) Looking for growth opportunities

      6) Asking for help and growing your network

      7) Facing your fears and embracing personal responsibility

As ever the episode ends with this weeks career coaching questions which uses the concept of 'Future You' to help you get unstuck.
