Description

Yuval Noah Harari, author of the best-selling Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, envisions a not-too-distant world in which we face a new set of challenges. Now, in Homo Deus, he examines our future with his trademark blend of science, history, philosophy and every discipline in between.

Homo Deus explores the projects, dreams and nightmares that will shape the 21st century - from overcoming death to creating artificial life. It asks the fundamental questions: where do we go from here? And how will we protect this fragile world from our own destructive powers?

This is the next stage of evolution. This is Homo Deus. War is obsolete. You are more likely to commit suicide than be killed in conflict. Famine is disappearing. You are at more risk of obesity than starvation. Death is just a technical problem. Equality is out - but immortality is in. What does our future hold?

"What could be the future of Homo Sapien?"

This book may be remembered in generations to come, as a ground breaking endeavour in 2016, to understand and explore, where we Homo Sapiens are heading in the next few decades to a century. The author uses lots of recent scientific discoveries in human biology, as well as the ever more sophisticated algorithms developed by IT in an ever more interconnected environment to enhance its ability to analyse data, to support his analysis and propositions. The author looks into many fundamental features that what we, Homo Sapiens think, as our relative superiority and uniqueness. However, as you read through the pages, it dawns to us that this (soon) may not be so, and with the advancement of artificial intelligence, combining with big data, we are moving towards an era we no longer recognise ... This is not a scaremongering book, but one that illustrates the possibilities with as much objectivities as a great scholar could possibly be. A must read !
